Preserving nature's natural beauty

Belize is home to over 700 species of butterfly — a living signal of environmental health.

Butterflies are sensitive to pollutants, which makes their presence one of the clearest signs of a healthy environment. To help them thrive, we keep our land completely chemical-free — a choice that also draws in other local species, from the Maya honey bee to glow worms.

Using our own sustainable design principles, we built a small flight house that's home to the Blue Morpho and Owl butterfly, among others. We rear these species continually, so it's the perfect place to watch a butterfly's entire life cycle unfold — egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, and flight.
